Brian York for Texas Commissioner of Agriculture

Hello, and thanks for your interest.  My name is Brian York and I am campaigning to be the next Commissioner of Agriculture in the state of Texas.

After the 2008 elections, I decided that I was tired of complaining about the growing federal and sometimes state intrusion in our lives.  My position is that too often, government treats the good people of this land as though we don't know how to educate our children, care for our families or manage our property responsibly.  And that is why I am running for office; to restore liberty in its rightful place of honor in our republic.

As Texas Commissioner of Agriculture, my commitment will always be to both Texas farrmers and to Texas consumers first and foremost.  I will work to protect Texas land owners from encroaching eminent domain policies.  I will also work to protect family farms, farmer's markets, roadside grocers and consumers from excessive regulation which stifles the free market.

As a husband and a father, I am also committed to organic and home gardening and will use my time as your next Commissioner of Agriculture to be an advocate for organic options and home gardening.

I believe that property taxes are the most heinous of all taxes.  It is my belief that once you own your primary residence, no law enforcement official should ever be able to take your land simply because you cannot pay the taxes on it.    Property tax relief will provide immediate relief to many farmers and ranchers in Texas. Property tax reform will be a major goal of my office and I will use the power of the bully pulpit to push for that reform.
